Costs, District Support, and Financial Aid

For the academic year 2008-2009, PRN tuition will be $15,000. There is an additional, non-refundable reservation fee of $250 payable upon preliminary acceptance into the program. Payment of the reservation fee allows PRN@UVTI staff to begin the process of identifying a Mentor Principal for each Aspiring Principal and to work with the School District to ensure that the Residency has received the support of the school, the district, and the school board.

In a school district where an Aspiring Principal is currently employed as a teacher, guidance counselor, acting principal, etc. and has received the support of the district for training and licensure as a school leader, arrangements may be made for the district to subsidize all or part of the tuition costs and/or to continue the Aspiring Principal at full or part-time salary while they complete the program. Aspiring Principals are often asked by the district to commit themselves to serve the district for a period of time in exchange for this support. Other Aspiring Principals are able to apply for sabbatical leave for the year in which they are enrolled in PRN. The financial aid process begins with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (the FAFSA). We recommend applying online at the FAFSA web site, www.fafsa.ed.gov. Be sure to list UVTI's school code, 034373, in the appropriate space on the application. After your application has been processed, UVTI will receive the Student Aid Report and will work with each Aspiring Principal to help make PRN@UVTI financially feasible.
