PRINCIPAL CERTIFICATION. The UVEI model differs from most university graduate programs in education.  Believing that school leadership is an art best learned through practice, UVEI's principal internship has the intern work in the office of the principal under the supervision of an intern mentor who has been selected in consort with the intern and UVEI staff.   Our intern mentors come from among the best professionals in the region and are supported by an intensive, personalized "Regional Team" experience, by professional workshops, readings and reflection.  Each of our Regional Teams is limited to seven principal interns and their intern mentors, along with two exceptionally-qualified faculty members who make sure the intensity of the internship is balanced by the breadth of perspective.   While our focus is on the pragmatic aspects of leadership, by the end of UVEI's ten-month training period, graduates have studied and had administrative experience in most of the topics normally addressed in the syllabi of conventional administrative degree programs.

LICENSURE. UVEI has been accredited since 1999 by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), is approved by the State of New Hampshire and the State of Vermont's Standard Board of Professional Educators.
